Most business ideas start from trying to solve a personal problem. OTEC's start isn't any different: When founder Merel could not find a bag that was both protective and looked nice, she set out to change that and started working on the very first designs ideas in 2025. The aim was always clear: to bring a camera bag on the market that could pass as a normal day bag while still be protective and functional.
A year later, we are bringing you bags for modern creators and photographers who carry the tools of their craft wherever they go. For too long, the bags built to protect valuable gear have prioritized pure utility over everything else.
The camera bag that's made to move, meant to hold on.
Our bags are handmade in Italy, where artisanal craftsmanship still thrives and every detail is treated with care. We work with skilled makers who understand that how something is constructed is just as important as how it looks.
We're committed to slow fashion. That means no seasonal cycles, no mass production, no chasing trends. It means making fewer things, making them better, and making sure they're worth keeping for years.
Bestseller
Our bags are made with fabric from Italian luxury brands that otherwise would have been thrown away. This means that we're not only doing our part in reducing waste, but also that every batch of bags is limited and unique. We will never re-make the exact same bag, meaning there's only very few people that have the exact same product.
In '26 we organized our first OTEC Photography exhibition. A platform for talented makers to showcase and sell their work. An appreciation for art through our lenses. We aim to make this an annual event, showing continuous support for the photography community.
